Trapped in what we created as mankind…

Recently, I experienced how big the pitfall is we have created as mankind.

I was invited to take part in a constellation about Catalonia and Spain, during the master class in organizational constellations that took place in Madrid. At that time, the separation process of Catalonia was very current, and the Spanish and Catalonian participants were very much absorbed by these developments. There were also many participants from other (mostly) European countries.

In the constellation, there were four representatives of: The Spanish Government, the Catalonian Government, the Catalonian people and the Spanish people from other regions.

The clear movement was that both people were desperately trying to reach each other. And that these attempts were obstructed by both governments. So the institutions we created as mankind are now preventing us, people, from connecting!

Tears were running down my cheeks.

I am reading the book “Sapiens, a brief history of humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari. He writes about the pitfall we unknowingly created as mankind, once we started to cultivate wheat. This pitfall has many thousands of years later become a huge construct. This construct includes all the institutions, rules, laws, multinational companies, politics, and our need for money and luxury.

This construct is really interfering with us being able to be human!

So the sentence that came up in me is: “We need to de-construct.”

This realization first felt as a relief. A way out! Then came the realization that it is impossible to go back to the times before cultivating wheat, about 10 000 years ago. It is an illusion to get out…

And I felt the trap. We are trapped in what we created as mankind. And although it hurts and makes me sad, I will stay with this reality. For now.

About the Bert Hellinger Institute

People are constantly evolving. With each other, without each other. In families, in teams, in organizations. Systemic thinking makes us aware of the “why” of our being and doing. Organizational and family constellations create room for movement. The BHI provides courses, workshops and training programs in the field of systemic work, constellations, leadership and coaching. This is how we contribute to the development of people, organizations and society.

For up-and-coming and established leaders. An initiative of the Bert Hellinger Institute.
